The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (CAFIA) primarily supervises food of plant origin and raw materials used for their production, throughout the entire chain from manufacturing establishments, through importers, transporters and wholesale warehouses, to the retail network. It also supervises food of animal origin within the retail network.
CAFIA also carries out inspections across a wide range of so-called open catering establishments (restaurants, cafés and tea rooms, fast food outlets, wine bars, pubs, and catering services within accommodation facilities such as hotels and guesthouses).
CAFIA also performs inspections of wine and wine products.
Furthermore, CAFIA is competent for the inspection of tobacco products, psychomodulatory substances, and listed psychoactive substances.
